Joule

Definition

The joule (symbol: J) is the SI unit of energy.

In terms of mechanics, 1 J is equivalent to the work done when a force of 1 N is applied to an object, causing it to move a distance of 1 m in the direction of the force.

In terms of electrical circuit theory, 1 J is equivalent to the energy dissipated as heart when a current of 1 A flows thorough a resistance of 1 Ω for one second.
